What Is the Kentucky Bourbon Trail? Discovering Kentucky Bourbon Country

There’s something special about spending a few days in Kentucky. The rolling hills, beautiful horse farms, historic towns, incredible food, and genuine Southern hospitality have a way of making you feel right at home.

And somewhere along the way, there’s usually a little bourbon involved.

Welcome to Bourbon Country.

Much like California’s wine country, Kentucky is made up of distinct regions, each with its own personality. You can spend the morning exploring a historic distillery, enjoy lunch overlooking the countryside, wander through a charming small town, or discover Louisville’s lively restaurant and cocktail scene.

And here’s something we’ve learned over the years: not everyone arrives in Kentucky because they love bourbon.

Sometimes it’s a spouse, a family member, or a friend who’s simply coming along because someone they love is a bourbon enthusiast. They’re happy to join the trip, but bourbon isn’t really their thing.

Then something wonderful happens.

They fall in love with the countryside, the hospitality, the stories, and the fun of discovering Kentucky together. They start asking questions, finding flavors they never expected to enjoy, and sometimes even discover a bourbon they love.

Before you know it, we’ve created another bourbon monster!

Of course, not everyone leaves loving bourbon, and that’s perfectly fine. There’s so much more to enjoy here.

The Kentucky Bourbon Trail is a wonderful introduction to Bourbon Country. But it’s only the beginning of what makes this place special.
